This site/blog will tell the world more about my lovely son, named Agus Surya Yoewira or Yoe Wen Yang (his Chinese name). ANAK MANJA

Pada masa kini pemukulan fisik terhadap anak-anak banyak ditentang. Baik oleh dunia pendidikan modern maupun oleh hukum di negara maju. Di Amerika, hal semacam ini bisa digolongkan sebagai penyiksaan anak. Sekalipun dengan maksud mendidik, jika ada yang melaporkan, maka orangtua yang memukul anaknya bisa dipenjara. Hak anak-anak memang harus dibela dan dilindungi. Akan tetapi, bersikap lunak dan permisif terhadap anak-anak juga ada bahayanya, yaitu bahaya pemanjaan.

Raja Daud punya pengalaman dua kali dikudeta oleh anak-anaknya sendiri, Absalom dan Adonia. Dalam banyak hal lain ia patut diteladani, tetapi tidak dalam hal mendidik anak. Ia terlampau memanjakan mereka. Bahkan dicatat di (1Raja-raja 1:6) bahwa ia tidak pernah menegur Adonia atas semua tindakannya yang salah. Baik Absalom maupun Adonia adalah anak-anak yang elok paras dan perawakannya. Namun, mereka juga adalah anak-anak manja. Sampai tiba saatnya mereka masing-masing justru berkhianat dan membuat kesepakatan untuk menjatuhkan ayahnya dari takhta. Pada waktunya, anak-anak manja akan mendatangkan bencana bagi keluarga dan dirinya sendiri.

Selalu ada alasan untuk memanjakan seorang anak. Entah karena ia anak semata wayang atau anak yang kelahirannya telah lama dinantikan. Entah karena elok parasnya atau justru karena ia memiliki kelemahan fisik yang menonjol. Bisa juga karena ia pernah sakit parah, tetapi sembuh kembali. Namun, apa pun alasannya, memanjakan mereka tetap salah. Mengasihi tidak sama dengan memanjakan. Kasih menegur, mendidik dengan "tongkat".
